About This Project

Koala partnered with Coeliac UK to create a powerful video campaign that raises awareness of the charity’s Research Fund and the critical role it plays in improving the lives of people living with coeliac disease. This series of heartfelt, interview-led films was designed to put real voices and lived experience at the centre of the story. Shot in natural home environments, the videos feature individuals from across the UK who candidly share their journeys with coeliac disease and reflect on how much the charity’s work means to them and their families.

Our creative approach focused on authenticity and emotional connection. Each video was filmed using a minimal, unobtrusive setup to allow contributors to speak openly and honestly in a space that felt safe and personal. From the everyday challenges of food management to the emotional toll of diagnosis and social isolation, these personal stories offered a powerful window into the realities of living with coeliac disease. The home setting gave the films a calm, reflective tone that allowed each voice to shine through.

Koala’s team approached this charity video production with great care, using soft natural lighting and sensitive camerawork to preserve the intimacy of each conversation. Gentle pacing, minimal editing, and considered use of music ensured that the emotional weight of the contributors’ stories was never overshadowed. Through interview-based storytelling, we created a sense of connection and community, emphasising how vital continued research and support are for improving treatment and long-term outcomes.

Distributed through Coeliac UK’s digital channels and supporter networks, the campaign successfully brought attention to the importance of research funding while giving voice to the people it directly impacts. It demonstrated Koala’s ability to produce meaningful health awareness campaigns that combine technical skill with humanity and trust. More than a fundraising appeal, this series was a reminder of the real lives behind the statistics and the powerful difference a well-told story can make in advancing medical research.
