About This Project
Koala joined forces with global creative agency McCann Worldwide to deliver a high-impact live action commercial for Cox Marine, showcasing their groundbreaking new diesel outboard engine. Designed for both military and high-performance leisure applications, the CXO300 is a powerful innovation built for demanding marine environments. Our brief was to create a dynamic, cinematic film that highlighted the engine’s power, reliability, and versatility, capturing its performance in real-world conditions out on the open water.
The shoot took place offshore on the Solent, a renowned stretch of water between Lymington and the Isle of Wight. Using a combination of gyro-stabilised camera systems, drone cinematography, and precision tracking boats, we filmed the engine in action from multiple vantage points. Our marine video production team worked closely with the agency to choreograph high-speed sequences, wake trails, and close-ups that conveyed both the engineering strength and agility of the product in its natural environment.
Every element of the production was crafted to deliver scale, clarity, and visual impact. The live action footage was captured in shifting light and sea conditions, showcasing the engine’s performance against a dynamic coastal backdrop. Drone footage provided dramatic aerial perspectives while stabilised tracking shots from support vessels gave us tight, cinematic details of the engine powering through open water. The result was a visually rich and technically precise marine filming production that told a story of innovation through movement and environment.
Delivered for global broadcast, trade events, and digital marketing campaigns, the final video positioned Cox Marine as a leader in next-generation marine propulsion. The project demonstrated Koala’s expertise in offshore video production, high-performance live action filming, and collaboration at scale with international creative teams. From briefing to execution, we brought McCann’s creative vision to life through seamless marine coordination, sharp cinematography, and a deep understanding of how to make engineering visually exciting on screen.
