About This Project

Koala partnered with Butcher’s Dog Food and Mail Online to create a heartwarming online video campaign that shines a spotlight on the brand’s ongoing commitment to dog welfare across the UK. Filmed on location at Cheshire Dogs’ Home, the piece blends natural live action filming with real interviews and candid moments between dogs and carers. The aim was to celebrate the joy that rescue dogs bring to people’s lives while highlighting Butcher’s long-standing charity work and mission to provide every dog with nourishing, wholesome food.

Shot over a single day, the video captured the authentic atmosphere of the rescue centre with a sensitive, observational approach. Our team worked closely with the staff at Cheshire Dogs’ Home to document everyday moments including feeding time, play sessions, and emotional bonds forming between dogs and people. We also filmed a heartfelt interview with one of the centre’s carers who shared insight into the challenges and triumphs of rehoming dogs as well as the positive impact of Butcher’s support. The result is a sincere and uplifting branded content film that invites viewers to feel, reflect, and act.

The production used natural light, handheld camera work, and a warm colour palette to emphasise the care and character of each dog. With minimal setup and real-life storytelling, the video feels immediate and honest, putting the animals front and centre. Our online video production team focused on capturing genuine reactions and subtle details that convey emotion without the need for scripted performances or voiceover. This style aligned perfectly with the campaign’s ethos of supporting all dogs not just with shelter but with proper nutrition and kindness.

This project was distributed through Mail Online’s digital platforms, giving the film widespread reach across pet-loving audiences in the UK. It underscored Koala’s expertise in authentic live action storytelling, cause-led branded content, and strategic video production for pet food marketing. More than a promotional piece, the film positioned Butcher’s Dog Food as a brand with real purpose, committed to nourishing rescue dogs and supporting the shelters that give them a second chance.
