When Penguin approached us to create a video trailer for SAS Rogue Heroes, we knew this had to be more than just a book promo—it had to match the intensity of both Ben Macintyre’s bestselling book and the highly anticipated BBC TV series it inspired. Designed for social media, this trailer was launched to coincide with the series’ debut, ensuring a seamless connection between the literary and on-screen worlds.
To achieve a strong sense of campaign continuity, we carefully aligned the visual language of the book and TV show. We integrated archive imagery, placing real historical moments at the heart of the trailer, and enhanced them with bold typography and visual effects to create maximum impact. The result? A gripping, fast-paced edit that captured the energy, danger, and audacity of the SAS’s origins.
The use of dynamic motion graphics and cinematic storytelling gave the trailer an unmistakable war-time aesthetic, ensuring it felt both authentic and visually arresting. Every element—from the pacing of the edit to the textures of the visuals—was designed to reflect the adrenaline-fueled action of both Macintyre’s book and the BBC series. This synergy reinforced the book’s place at the centre of the SAS legend while connecting with a broader audience discovering the story through TV.
