About This Project

Koala partnered with OCF (Our Community Foundation) to produce an emotive and inspiring awareness video that highlights the charity’s mission to support underfunded and disadvantaged young people across Birmingham. OCF works at a grassroots level to provide resources, mentorship, and safe spaces for young people navigating challenging circumstances. Our goal was to create a video that captured the human impact of their work, told directly through the voices of those driving change from within the community.

Filmed on location in Birmingham, the live-action video features two contributors from OCF who play an active role in delivering support and building brighter futures for local youth. Through unscripted interviews and observational footage, we captured their passion, authenticity, and deep connection to the community. The film offers a genuine window into the lives affected by OCF’s work, showing how access to the right opportunities and support systems can make a lasting difference.

Our production approach focused on simplicity and sincerity. Using natural and organic looking lighting, handheld camerawork, and a documentary-style aesthetic, we created a film that feels personal and grounded in real experience. The edit was paced to allow moments of reflection and emotional weight, supported by a subtle and uplifting music score that reinforced the film’s message of hope, resilience, and empowerment.

The final video was created for digital and social distribution, helping OCF reach new audiences, inspire donors, and build awareness of the challenges facing young people in Birmingham today. This project demonstrated Koala’s ability to produce meaningful, community-led video content that puts people first. By amplifying the voices of those at the heart of the charity’s work, we helped OCF share its message with clarity, compassion, and credibility.
