About This Project

Koala partnered with publisher Hachette to produce a bold and suspenseful animated campaign for Hunted, the gripping new thriller from award-winning author Abir Mukherjee. Designed for broadcast, social media, and online platforms, the campaign centred around a series of three character-driven animated ads, each told from the perspective of one of the book’s lead protagonists. This innovative narrative structure allowed us to create a cohesive family of ads that gave audiences multiple emotional entry points into the story, while driving intrigue and anticipation ahead of the novel’s release.

Each video was crafted using a dynamic blend of 2D animation and motion graphics, reflecting the tension and pacing of the book’s plot. Working closely with the publisher and author’s team, Koala scripted and produced three short ads that brought the inner thoughts of the characters to life, each with its own tone and tempo. From a traumatised mother on the run to a conflicted detective and a vengeful agent, the spots gave viewers a layered sense of the psychological stakes at the heart of the thriller. Carefully timed visuals and kinetic text were used to mirror the pace and urgency of Mukherjee’s writing style.

Our video production team focused on creating animations that were optimised for multi-platform delivery. Sound design and a bold graphic aesthetic to ensure maximum impact even in short scroll-stopping formats. The creative style was designed to stand apart in the thriller category, offering a fresh approach to book advertising that felt cinematic, character-led, and digital-first.

This project showcased Koala’s strength in animation, motion graphics storytelling, and cross-platform video production for publishing campaigns. By turning Hunted’s central characters into compelling on-screen voices, we delivered a campaign that not only captured the book’s psychological depth but also positioned it as a must-read in the competitive thriller market. The result was a powerful example of how targeted, animated content can bring literature to life and drive awareness across TV, digital, and social media channels.
